API Plan 53B: Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Configurations Explained

Our API Plan 53B seal support systems are available in two configurations: air-cooled and water-cooled designs, engineered to suit diverse operating conditions across industrial

applications.

For the air-cooled 53B unit, heat from the barrier fluid is dissipated to the atmosphere through finned tube components paired with a cooling fan. This water-independent design

features a simple structure, easy installation and minimal maintenance. It works reliably under moderate temperatures and standard load conditions, and is an ideal choice for facilities

without dedicated cooling water systems.

The water-cooled 53B version utilises shell-and-tube or plate heat exchangers. Barrier fluid heat is transferred to circulating cooling water for efficient removal. This design delivers

outstanding heat dissipation performance and precise temperature stability. Operating with low noise, it is well-suited for heavy-duty scenarios, including high-temperature media and

applications with elevated PV values。
