The core difference between Plan 52 and Plan 53 is:
Plan 52 seal support system — The tank is at atmospheric pressure. If the inner seal leaks, the process fluid enters the tank, where it is collected and triggers an alarm. It acts as a "leak collection" system.
Plan 53 seal flush system — The tank pressure is higher than the pump cavity pressure. Even if the inner seal leaks, the clean fluid from the tank will leak slightly into the pump, thereby preventing the process fluid from leaking out. It acts as a "leak containment" system.
